Town Hall Discussions about Fall Plans

Campus Status: The University is open, with employees working remotely. UMBC’s physical campus remains closed. Maryland is currently under a Safer at Home Order. 

Retrievers Return Roadmap

  • The Fall Planning Coordinating Committee issued an update on UMBC’s fall plans. The latest information is also available on the Retrievers Return website
  • If you want to learn more  about fall plans, faculty, staff, and student shared governance groups are hosting a series of town halls in the coming weeks. Check this page for log-in information.

Student Services and Support

  • The list of fall courses that will be offered in-person or as a hybrid course is now available here. Courses not on the list will be offered fully online.  
  • Students signed up for on-campus housing in the fall continue to receive updates on fall plans. Updated information is available here. Additional information on the housing selection process will be sent to students previously registered for housing this week.
  • Students are now able to safely drop off library materials on campus. Click here for a campus map with drop off locations.
  • The Center for Democracy and Civic Life is hosting their virtual Civic Courage Journal Project Gathering Friday, June 26, at 1 p.m.

Business Continuity and Staff Support

  • Most employees will continue to work remotely this fall. UMBC will release its multi-phase plan for return to on-campus work and other fall updates this week. 

Campus Access

  • Effective June 15, 2020, UMBC’s research & studio facilities are operating under Phase 1 RCA Mode. Any individual or team requesting access to research or studio facilities is required to obtain prior authorization.
  • UMBC’s physical campus remains closed and employees continue to work remotely. Only employees with permission from their supervisor, approved researchers, and/or approved students should be on campus. 
  • If you have a one-time emergency need to visit campus, call UMBC Police Deputy Chief Bruce Perry at 443-677-2195 or Lieutenant Derrick Johns at 410-207-0850.
