Construction Staging Area for Sherman Hall Renovation

Dear UMBC Community,

The Sherman Hall renovation project will be starting soon. In preparation for this, our contractor, Whiting-Turner, is beginning to establish the staging area for this project. This staging area is immediately behind the Administration Building and will consume most of the grassy area between Admin and the bus stop. The attached renderings show how this area will be used.

Whiting-Turner has already begun to install fencing around their construction staging area and will continue to modify this area over the next few weeks. Signage to redirect pedestrian traffic around Sherman Hall will be installed as well. The bus stop will still be accessible. Whiting-Turner will make every effort to save the large, mature tree within their fenced area.

Upon completion of the renovation in late 2026, this area will be restored as a grassy area with trees similar to its appearance before the renovation project. If you have any questions, please reach out to Stacy Brian, sbrian@umbc.edu. Thank you!
