Heavy Traffic Alert
Tips for getting to Campus and Parking
The first day of classes is upon us, and students, faculty, staff, and visitors should expect extremely heavy traffic, particularly during the morning rush hour, and a high demand for parking as the morning progresses. Here are some tips to make your drive and parking experience easier:
1. Allow yourself extra drive and parking times.
2. Avoid entering/exiting Campus on UMBC Blvd and utilize Wilkens Avenue, Hilltop Road, Walker Avenue, and Poplar Avenue (see attachment).
3. Plan your drive before you leave and check traffic reports.
4. Utilize a traffic app that can update you on current conditions and suggest alternative routes.
5. "D" permit holders arriving late to Campus should utilize Lot 24 or
Lot 25.
