May 21: UMBC COVID-19 Action Update
Campus Status: The University is open, with employees working remotely. UMBC’s physical campus remains closed. Maryland is currently under a Safer at Home Order. However, travel and other restrictions remain in Baltimore and Montgomery counties.

Student Services and Support
- Thank you to everyone who participated in our online celebration of the Class of 2020 this week. View the graduate and undergraduate celebrations here. Participate on social media using #UMBCgrad.
- The Division of Student Affairs congratulates all of our graduates.
- The Haven at UMBC’s outpatient center and recovery residence are temporarily closed. However, our partner, The Haven at College, is offering new virtual groups and activities this summer.
Academic Continuity
- UMBC leadership provided additional information on UMBC’s planning process for the fall semester.
- Forms and an FAQ for Pass/Fail grading options are available here.
Business Continuity and Staff Support
- Due to the health risks presented by the COVID-19 crisis, all day-camps, on-campus events, and programs/activities scheduled in UMBC facilities through UMBC personnel are canceled for Summer 2020. More details here.
Facilities
- The campus remains accessible for emergency access only. This includes employees with a letter from their supervisor, researchers approved through the Access Exception process, and/or students that are approved for late stay. If you have a one-time emergency need to visit campus, call UMBC Police Deputy Chief Bruce Perry at 443-677-2195 or Lieutenant Derrick Johns at 410-207-0850.
